Finally got a chance to put these consumables to the test the other day. My cutter is a Bestarc BTC650DP and I run it with 240 volts and a dinky little pancake compressor that sports a filter between the tank and the hose to supplement the onboard filter of the machine.Just did around 10 piercings and a few 3”-4” cuts at 15 amps and at 65 amps in 22 gauge mild steel to see how the kerfs compare. Not exactly a big time torture test, but the majority of my cutting from here on out will be on 22 gauge mild steel up to 1/8” and the occasional chunk of 1/4” steel. I forgot to change up the cutting air pressure so everything was done with about 60 psi pushing through. The nozzle orifice is about 1.3 mm, so it will provide plenty of oomph for cutting thicker material. The electrode hafnium core looks a little smaller compared to the included consumables from Bestarc, but in a side by side comparison, with the same number of starts/piercings and stretches of cutting, each set of nozzle and electrode had similar wear. See the pix - the smaller holes were made with 15 amps and the slightly larger holes with 65 amps.When I’m evaluating value, I only figure in how many sets of 1 nozzle + 1 electrode there are and do the cost per set. In this case, at the current price of $9.99 for 10 electrodes and 10 nozzles, that’s a buck a set. As long as these have a roughly equal life to other sets I have, they seem a pretty decent value.
