I used to have constant problems with twisted lines, especially when fishing with lures that spin. These ball bearing swivels have completely solved that issue. The smooth rotation prevents line twist, allowing my lures to perform naturally.

My husband is an avid fisher and had great things to say about these. They're durable and well made, and the swivel works flawlessly. There are a whopping 25 per pack as well so they last him quite awhile. The snap isn't difficult to work with either compared to his previous experiences. Overall, great product.

We fish for sockeye salmon every summer using the notorious and highly productive Soldotna Swing (otherwise known as flossing…) technique. We can be fishing 3-4 times a week for six weeks if the runs are slow or small. Sometimes fishing less when the runs are strong and quick. We are putting fish in our freezer for the rest of the year. These coast-lock ball bearing snap-swivels are really important in our gear set up, letting us do quick changes when we need to change leaders, retie running line or change weights to match the water condition on Alaskan rivers. It needs to be easy so you can stand in your spot along the bank and not leave the river to fix/ change your gear. Maximum efficiency is very important when a big slug of fishing are pushing through and every drift/ cast is important. The Pristis brand of ball bearings and hardware look and operate great !I did the math ! On average we make a cast and drift 12 times (5-6 seconds per drift) a minute with a drift length of about 20 lateral feet down the river. In a six hour period where we are 80% engaged and drifting, it equates to making 3,426 casts and drifts across that time period. At an average of 20‘ per drift, that’s about 13.1 miles of pounding (5-7 knot current flow) the terminal tackle shown in the photo over rocky boulder strewn river bottom bouncing along where the fish are swimming. This gear takes some real abuse. When you get snagged on subsurface obstructions (and you will !) it is a tug of war sometimes to get your gear free. If you keep your terminal tackle clean of debris and grass to let the bearings work, your line and gear don’t become a twisted mess and keeps your drifts easier to control and much more effective on the catching percentages as well as lasting longer and staying stronger. When you have to break off, it is always a parting of the line and not the snap-swivel. Just size your swivels to handle your loads and fish size appropriately. And last, another great thing with this style of swivel is that you can separate the snap from the ball-bearing barrel and reconfigure you connection between your leader and running lines attachment to fit a special situation or a unique tying method. The coast-locks are clearly the most versatile examples of the snap swivel genre to reduce line twist. We highly recommend these Pristis ball-bearing snap-swivels. Size them according to your fishing situational needs and don’t forget to Set The Hook !!

I uploaded a photo of one of these snap-swivels on a spoon I use for redfish. The spoon is 2" on it's own and the hook is nearly another 2". I use this setup on a 25 lb. mono leader off of 10 lb. braided line.I don't use swivels at all except with spoons because they will twist your line otherwise.

I love top water fishing, especially using Whopper Ploppers. The one down side of them is if anything gets in the prop the entire lure spins causing bad line twist. I like using swivels to help alleviate this issue but most of them are hard to use or too heavy. I got the size #1 and they are the perfect size for this situation (small, strong, and swivels really well). The only thing I worry about is them rusting... I will see if they rust over time... if so I will update this post.
