I bought this to learn how to use microscopes in homeschooling. I wanted glass slides for viewing clarity. I especially like the sturdy wood storage box. We enjoyed the variety of specimens. The price seemed reasonable for the number of slides, the labeling and storage.

Grandson (8 yrs old) loved it. Quality box and slides were very good quality too, real glass not plastic. Probably not for a very young child.

The slides were not clean they had finger prints on them, slides should be clean!

Great product. I would say that they work better on a regular microscope and are not good for the hand-held digital microscopes. But that is the only thing “bad” I could say. Well worth the money. Will buy others like this for sure.

These prepared slides are a great value. Even at double the price, they'd be worth it.As some have noted, they came with some muck on them, but if you know what all is involved in making prepared slides like this, it's easy to understand why they don't clean them before packaging them. Whether by hand or machine, the speed with which they'd have to be cleaned in order to maintain any sort of profit margin after the incredibly involved preparation process would likely lead to a large percentage of the finished slides being broken, which would also destroy any profitability. However, they're very easy to clean by hand once you get them. This aspect of them didn't bother me a bit.The staining methods for the different types of specimens create great contrast and distinction between the different parts of each specimen. The mounting is also clear, with a great refractive index, so things are sharp even at 1000x magnification.I've attached a photo I took of a cross-section of a zea (maize) stem, one of the included specimens, at 200x magnification in polarized light. The resulting abstract image alone was worth what I paid for the entire slide set.Whether you're a beginner just learning to explore the microscopic world or an experienced photographer looking to expand your options for creating art through microphotography, this set is a great way to get started. It's just plain fun.

I bought for my niece to go with her microscope kit I bought her for Xmas. She is 11 and she will sit there looking at one by one for a good hour, which for that age is a long time. I would try to described what she is seeing, but she only lets me look for a minute before taking it back, which is a good sign that she is enjoying it. I hope she is learning something or at least when she goes to the science lab later, it will make some sense. Right now, with the pandemic, she is virtual learning and simply reading a book. This was my way of giving her something more tangible.
