This thing works well once it's going. The airflow is impressive and does a great job moving air through my setup. It's built tough, and the dual metal shell with protective screens keeps out the usual coop gunk — feathers, straw, and dust. Definitely feels like it’ll hold up over time.The solar panel is huge, which helps explain the strong output — but be warned, it needs full sunlight. Not "half the panel is shaded" kind of sun, but full, blazing, unobstructed sun. Otherwise, the fan won’t run at all. There's no battery included, so it shuts off the second the sun dips or clouds roll in. Would’ve loved a small battery to keep it going a bit longer into the evening, but I get that’s not part of the deal here.It installs easily and the included on/off switch is a nice touch. Overall, it does the job and then some — just don’t expect it to hum along in the shade.

This solar fan works just advertised. It was easy to assemble and hook up to our dog house so they have some air flow inside their house during south Texas summer days. Its well made and very sturdy. I like that it can be taken apart and operate separately if you want to have 2 seprate fans. It comes with a good size solar panel and works great, but I took one star because it work great only if the sun is out. We had some cloudy days and the fan did not work and it doesn't work at night. This is something to keep in mind if your looking to purchase one. The cord itself is a good size, but it could be longer specially since fans can be separated and installed in 2 different locations. It also makes me question if it will last when it states to keep fan motor away from water to prevent short circuit so I'm assuming its not waterproof/weather proof. I guess I'll find out when it rains.

This works perfectly for our chicken coop! We have been building a custom chicken coop and needed an exhaust fan system that we wouldn't have to drag a long extension cord out to. This is perfect! We don't have any trees around our chicken coop, so it gets full sun. It did take a couple days for it to fully charge, but since then its been operating great! Chickens are happy, and we are happy!

I got this to vent the smallish chicken coop I'm currently building. It has two 4" fans set in a 6"x12" metal frame, and simple long cords that attach to a larger solar panel.My husband checked it out and wants to try it out in our storage (a 50' shipping container) along with all his other climate contraptions. I won't let him, however, since if he puts it in and likes it a lot, I won't get it back! (I told him to buy a second one for himself, so he's considering that.)This has no batteries in it to store power, so it only works in sunshine. This is simple & effective for small areas that aren't critical to vent with a fan all the time, considering it only works with clear sunny skies.I do like that it's sturdy and has some heft to it for how small it is. I live in a place with harsh weather, lots of wind, freezing icy/snowy winters and very hot summers, so function and durability are important factors in the face of all that.For my purposes, about $20 when I ordered this unit appears to be a decent value for what I got. It's still new, and while it's all metal, I don't know how durable it will prove to be over time, so I'm giving this a preliminary 4 stars. If any unforeseen issues or failures come up that affect my initial review, I'll come back here to update.

If you need a little extra air flow for your coop and a little DIY savvy then this is a great product. We cut a hole in the side of our coop to install the fan and made sure the solar panel was in direct sunlight and the coop has stayed nice and cool and much fresher than before. The fan honestly works great and could be used in many different scenarios, not just for a chicken coop. For the price and ease of use, I would absolutely recommend this product.

I'm planning ahead, getting supplies before I get my chickens. Cooling and comfort in our hot summers was a primary consideration, so this solar vent fan was a must! With 2 fans, this will move a bunch of air. Plus - these are pretty common fans (like used in computers, on freezers, etc.), so these will be easily swapped out at end of life, if a bearing freezes, etc. The solar panel is large, good connectors, and will be easy to mount above the coop. If this works as well as expected, I'll get a second set so I can have both airflow in and out of the coop. Great find!

I was disappointed in this solar fan because it just doesn't produce enough air movement; it barely moves a sheet of paper, and it requires bright direct sunlight to work at all.My 8x12 foot greenhouse house very small, double hung windows, but this fan is too small even for them. And for no better than this fan works, I'm definitely not cutting a hole in the wall for it. Maybe this would work for a doghouse, and with two of them in opposite sides with one blowing in and one blowing out.

Perfect for our chicken coop! Wish it was a little bit bigger though but it works great with the solar energy. It turns off at night though, but I think it’s because there’s no light and there’s no battery reserve. It was easy to install - the main fan but the solar panel was a little bit tricky to install. The screws were not the best quality though. I keep on breaking them so I had to use my own screws.
