Purchased these batteeries for my Yaesu VX 5 Handheld. Battery is a verry tight fit but I wasa able to get it in and the closure clipped shut. Batteries work fine with the radio once installed.

Got these batteries for my VX-7R. The look almost identical to the OEM battery that came with the radio except they are larger capacity. As some have said, it is VERY hard to snap the retaining clip on the radio so use caution. Press on the battery hard and don't force the clip. Operation wise it powers the radio and charges just fine and adds new life to my old trusty VX-7R. Minus one star for the hard fit.

Got these batteries after reading reviews that they were difficult to lock in with the little clip on the bottom of the radio. Well, sure enough, I had some problems at first. I had to press the clip so hard I was afraid I was going to break it. Anyway, I got the first one to lock in. Then I just kept unlocking, and locking it again, about 6 times, and finally it got easier Did the same thing with the second one. To charge them I only put the battery into the cradle, not the radio. I heard some of these aftermarket batteries put an error code on the radio when charging. Both batteries had red lights, and charged to green in about only 20 minutes, so they arrived with almost a full charge. How long they last on a full charge remains to be seen. Overall, I'm happy with them so far. My VX-5R is probably over 30 years old, bought it new, have the box and everything in pristine condition. They don't build metal HT,s like that anymore, so I thought it was worth the price to have two extra batteries for it.

I got this because my Yaesu branded battery for this radio was less than useless when it came to holding a charge. That battery is less than one year old bought new. This replacement was a shot in the dark because I had nothing to lose at this point and I have to admit that the batteries perform very well. I charged them both before going to a hamfest expecting to need both of them and I only used one. That very same battery is still in the radio holding a charge and having zero issues.

As someone Said before, and I ignored, it will NOT latch onto vx5-r.No amount of pushing or pulling on the radio latch will ever grab onto this battery.

These batteries seem like a good deal. However, they will not stay in and latch properly with the clip on the bottom of the radio. Don’t waste your Time by the original Yaesu batteries.
