The included storage fittings are a nice touch, but the tools themselves fall short. They struggle with any piping of meaningful thickness, overheating quickly and becoming frankly unsafe to use. While the concept is good, the execution just isn’t there. There are much better, more reliable options available.

These made my tube flaring projects much easier than the chisels I previously was working with. They do work by hand, but they are quicker when used with an electric driver or drill. Just make sure you have something to keep them stable and level or the flare might end up crooked, which is what happened with my first. The only complaint right now is the black, painted finish. It wears off and exposes the silvery, natural color of the tool. I think future versions should just be their natural metal color because the paint ends up on the inner walls of my tubes, which isn't good, especially when they're for drinking water. I'm in the process of gently buffing the paint off of mine and suggests the same. They would've been perfect without the paint.

Even with an electric drill, these are a bit of a challenge to use. Can only flare small copper tubes. But be careful, the tube gets hot, use gloves and not really safe while drilling.

As others who actually tried them have noted these are just not practical. They can work on refrigerant tubing less than 3/8", and even then its a challenge. These will not flare and reasonable sized copper piping or conduit.1) The metal itself is very soft2) the taper is a little too steepThe result is your having to really force it, and it gets the pipe very hot. I'd look for a different swage tool/expander.No, I would not recommend.

Is meant for smaller diameter copper piping. It gets very hot with the friction of metal against metal.

I bought this to work with 1/2" copper pipe. Tested on Type M pipe and it doesn't seem to work.Photos indicated that it work.

I'm not going to lie. I definitely ordered these by mistake thinking they were step drill bits. When they arrived and didn't have a cutting surface I was pretty perturbed. That being said, after realizing my mistake and looking up how these are actually supposed to be used, I did find some copper tubing I had lying around to test the bits. Trying them on standard copper plumbing pipe, they worked but not great. Since it appears that they are primarily supposed to be used with smaller copper tubing like is used in refrigeration systems, I have to give it full credit. Since it worked at near the maximum size of the bits, I have to assume it would work better on smaller diameter copper.Honestly, I was hesitant to leave the review because at most it's minimally helpful. However I realized that there could just be one other person that is about to make the same mistake I did and what kind of person would I be if I didn't prevent it when I could have?

Handsome, and well made.Love the form factor- they'll be easy to keep on hand. There are no sharp edges to worry about, and the carabiner/bit holders are pretty posh looking.
