This is a nice way to seal up a bag of anything powdered or small sized (e.g. rice, grains).Just put pull the top of the bag over the inner ring, then screw the threaded cap into it.I would not call it airtight to the point where you can't squeeze any air out of the bag, but it is tight enough to keep out bugs and prevent spills even if you tip it upside down.
