These vent things degrade over time and the plastic gets brittle. My 10 year old JD z950 mower had the plastic nipple snap off (this will fit the 9xx series). Instead of spending 4x the price for a Deere part, I got this and it worked fine. This new grommet is slightly bigger so I trimmed it just a little - until I realized I can use the old rubber grommet and did that instead. It was a 10 minute change out - the most difficult part was removing the old piece.
