I've always kept one of these adapters in my tool kit on my bike. This adapter is exactly what is needed to get out of an emergency situation when you've left your pump at home. It seems that most tubes for bicycles these days have Presta valves on them to hold higher pressures. Unfortunately, all of the gas station air pumps are equipped only to fill a Shrader valve.To use this, loosen the top Presta valve nut to where slight pressure allows air to flow. Then press this adapter onto the Presta valve (knurled end with the rubber ring towards the valve). You can then fill the tube with a standard air hose at the threaded end.This adapter does not leak--at least it doesn't leak any more than whatever the air hose attachment connection leaks.
