Nice lock set, problem is cannot get one of the keys made at my local hardware store. Special key that they don't keep in stock unusual,Kind of a drag I have to search out Lock shop to make the door key.

These cylinders are of decent quality and will replace factory lock cylinders. If you need it done quickly and don't mind having an extra key, you might not need an expensive trip to a locksmith. I'll go into detail below about the problem I had with them that won't apply in most situations, so ignore it if you're just buying these to have someone else install them. In that case, they're a much better price than parts through the dealership.I got these to replace a cylinder that had been broken when the truck was broken into. The first thing I did was open one up to attempt to rekey them to match the truck's ignition key. I've done this a few times with different salvage parts so I didn't expect any issues. Then the pins kept falling out and didn't have their size numbers stamped on them like in typical cylinders. I could see they were all close to the same size, like all 2s and 3s. Yes, I would've saved time comparing the keys first, but I really wanted to hurry and get new preferably matching cylinders installed before dark. After switching to the pins from the old cylinders, everything could be reassembled with no further issues and the ignition key fit them perfectly. This makes me question why their set of ignition and door cylinders have weird nonstandard and non-matching keys.
