They catch everything before it goes down the sink that doesn't belong. I've only used dish liquid when using. They make my sink look like a whole new sink. I loved these, great purchase, hoping they last for awhile.

Has very sharp edges. Does not hold water in the sink. Screening on the strainer itself is flimsy. Sorry I can't give zero stars. I immediately returned the item . Purchased another one from Brand (Wong Ding) less money and excellent workmanship, works like a charm.

As a drainage catcher in the sink the metal mesh works great. But the kids are loose fitting and don’t stopper the sink. The water just leaks steadily around the loose fit until the si k is empty. If you want to use these to prevent food going down your drain, they work. But as a stopper, they aren’t functional.
