I had been keeping a small sieve in my flour bin for quick sifting when baking bread, but once I saw this I made an upgrade. It now lives there, ready to provide a bit of flour for dusting my board. The half perforated one is perfect, as you can set it down when needed without making too much of a mess. Would probably work well with powdered sugar as well. The fully perforated tool works great as a tea ball. All metal construction with smooth sliding action and springs. No burrs or sharp edges and very easy to clean. This is one of those simple kitchen tools that does what it should and does it well.

I find that loose leaf tea leaks out the bottom of this strainer. Some of it even came out a few of the holes, which are bigger than expected. Not only the holes, but the strainers themselves are larger than I anticipated. I measured the size of the strainer ball at about 2 inches wide while the length (including the wand) is just over 7 inches long. The metal used feels of good quality, and the opening and closing mechanism operates smoothly. The strainer ball is easy to clean. Because of this, I would have rated it higher were it not for the leakage. Drinking tea leaves isn't my thing. For comparison, I used Twinings Earl Grey Tea, Loose Tea from a tin. I also ground ginger root as a second test, but that leaked, too. Perhaps it would be OK for larger leaves, or used as a flower sifter for making bread. For my type of tea it was a miss, so I do not recommend.

These work great! I’m so glad I chose to get two — such a great deal! I use one for powdered sugar and the other for filtering tea leaves.
