I got these for my powerboat. I wanted to mount a long paddle and a boathook along the side panels and these were just right. They grip well due to being springy plastic, and yet, I think they will last. They're simple devices and the only thing to really check is the diameter to make sure they'll fit what you want to hold.

My kayaks came with these (or something similar) - but they'd be great to add-on to any kayak.I got them for spares - it's the sort of thing that is relatively easy to get knocked off racking and unracking a kayak, so having a few in my repair kit is nice. At about $8 for 3, they are a bargain. Quality-wise, they seem as good as OEM.Do note that these are NOT track mount - they are direct screw-to-hull, and so are a permanent install item (your hull will have screw holes in it).
