I'm always working on something. Thread files are essential for any serious mechanic or diy'er. I've got a hobby machine shop and sometimes run into situations where there isn't a need to set up and chase a thread, files will do the job just as well and a lot faster. These are sharp and seem hard enough to last for a while.

Out of the gate, these thread repair files aren't top-drawer with regard to fit and finish. For the occasional user or home shop, though, they're a great set for occasional use, particularly at the price point they're at... and they include both SAE and metric threads.The plastic 'handles' are a bit fiddly to deal with if you're switching back and forth frequently, but do a good job of both protecting the unused portion of the file and keeping the sharp edges at bay when holding the file. Not that they're likely to cut you by any means, but it does give a more sure handhold during use.The thread pitch seems true to size for those threads I've checked against, and the edges of each file are sharp and clean with no burs.If you work on projects long enough, you're going to encounter damaged threads. How you deal with them depends upon what tools you have and what the thread belongs to. For the price point, these are a great option for the home shop.
