I had my deck railing and uprights replaced last year, but found that the new railing wasn't as rigid as I wanted. This was because there were no brackets anchoring it to the house walls. These brackets are the answer to that problem, and this summer, I will put them in (I will have to take the new railing off to do so, sadly). The brackets are very nice - solid without looking heavy, powder coated and attractive (in the way of being unobtrusive). The screws that come with the set look to be useful for siding or wood. I am going to use masonry screws. I really like that the screw holes in the brackets are countersunk, so that the screw heads won't protrude. The brackets will fit 2x4 pieces of wood, but may be a bit loose - I might have to put shims in to tighten up the fit.

I’ve used several brands of fence rail brackets while working on rebuilding/rehabbing our privacy fence, and this one is, hands down, the nicest and the first ones that I regret are being hidden behind pickets. Let me explain. I tried toe-nailing but that is not efficient because I’m no good at it. I also wanted to change the orientation of the fence rail to slow any bowing of the rail and to add real estate for the screws in the pickets. I’ve tried Simpson brackets but those are very unforgiving and we need more flexibility for the placement of the rails. We are not replacing the 4x4 fence posts and some of them are not plumb, so we adjust the fence rails to be plumb - that way the installed pickets are plumb and our fence doesn’t look wonky. These brackets are great because they easily fit the 2x4, even the treated lumber we are using that is usually pretty wet and swollen. These brackets are ones that get installed on the 4x4 fence posts first and then the fence rail is added by sliding each end into the brackets and securing it with the provided screws - 2 on one side and 1 on the other, so no danger of hitting screws from the other side. They are metal and hefty so I’m not worried about durability, and they are really attractive.

I'm both a graduate degree'd engineer who greatly appreciates well designed products and also the owner of a handyman business. A good bit of my business is carpentry and a good bit of that is deck rehabs and updates. Given that as background ...I've used my share of different railing brackets and of all the types and manufacturers I've used these are my favorite. The design is excellent, as is the build quality. They're not giving these away, but the cost is very fair given the quality. Specifically .... I've used plastic railing brackets and although they seem sturdy enough at install, I don't have confidence they'll hold up over years of UV exposure and thermal cycling. These cast aluminum hangers have gussets and webbing in all the right places to give a truly rigid and confidence inspiring railing after install. The black powder coat on each one I received is literally perfect and since it's not paint should continue looking great for years and years to come. To install these you first screw the bracket to the post, then slip in the railing top or bottom support and screw that in place. This procedure is much more forgiving of slight cutting inaccuracies than brackets that first screw on the end of the railing support and then get screwed onto the post. I'll never use that second style again. I can be critical of poor product design or sloppy manufacturing, but I have literally nothing negative to comment on on these brackets. The brackets are fantastic and the price is more than fair.*** NOTE: At the time I wrote this review there were other reviews posted that mention using these in place of joist hangers. THESE RAILING BRACKETS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO BE LOAD BEARING STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS, SUCH AS JOIST HANGERS, AND USING THEM IN THAT WAY IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!

These are decent connectors. Decent build quality. Finish is good. But, not sure if the screws provided are treated for ACQ lumber, so I will be using my own screws.

The first thing I noticed after opening the box was that the brackets are surprisingly light. They are made of aluminum but at first glance and heft, I thought they were plastic. 2x lumber fits very nicely into the bracket with just enough room to slide the wood into the bracket without difficulty. I tried a number of 2X4 boards to see where the top of the board fell in relation to the top of the bracket. All the boards were below the top of the bracket ranging from 1 to 4mm below the top. The boards I checked had all been stored indoors for a year or more so they were very dry. New boards from a lumberyard might fit differently, particularly if they are treated and wet. There is a ½ inch lip on the bottom of the bracket to support the wood. The included screws fit the countersunk holes in the bracket well as you would expect. A nice surprise was the inclusion of a brad-point drill bit. It’s stamped “4” and looks to be 4mm wide at the base. The powder coating is smooth and consistent with no bare spots. These are going to be perfect for the job I need to do. Glad I got them and highly recommend this product.

These aluminum deck railing brackets worked wonderfully! I got them to attach 2x4s to the center of some 4x4 posts, and they did exactly what I had hoped they would. They're not a particularly snug fit for the 2x4s, but once you put in all of the included screws, they held very well. The fact that they weren't super snug was helpful, though, as I had a couple of slightly warped boards that they accommodated just fine.I did have a bit of an issue with a couple of my 2x4s cracking with all of the screws going in, but that's kind of a wood quality/somewhat expected issue when putting that many screws into the wood. I don't really think it's the fault of these brackets at all.I also love the way they look. The dark metal aesthetic is really nice, and it gives the things I build with them a nice, modern finish. I would use these over and over again!

I had some wood railings that became unhinged and I needed to figure an easy way to fix them. One way was to use pocket holes and drill diagonal or use these brackets. These brackets is much less work plus much sturdier.Fits any 2x4 and super simple to use.You get 4 of these brackets for under $15 so it's a great value

I needed to make a sizeable work table for packaging items to be shipped. I doubled 2x4s for the legs, and used these brackets to run stringers for table top support. Came out very sturdy and it's very easy to build with these brackets. If you use all of the screw holes you will wind up with a very secure joint.

I'm planning to use these to build out a new deck railing next spring for our new deck that was built last fall. These are pretty basic brackets, but the level of design is a bit nicer than the brackets I was going to buy from a big box store. The finish is beautiful.

The ADC-12 Deck Railing Bracket Connectors (ASIN B0DF29FSPD) from Toscoco come complete with screws, instructions and a pilot hole drill bit.Big fan of these. They look great (powder coating aluminum), are light weight yet strong. They make installing railing quick and easy, and if you ever need to disassemble/replace railing, they are reusable. These will absolutely outlast your deck. Highly recommended.I hope you found this enlightening and/or helpful to your decision making.

I ordered this for a spring project. Our front steps are rotting and need to be replaced and since we'll be doing that we decided to add a little stoop at the top. Will be putting railings around and thanks to these brackets the project should go relatively easy.In the old days 2x4s used in this manner would be toenailed in. These newfangled brackets make attaching them really easy. We'll be using them for our decking as well as on the stairs and fortunately these brackets are suitable for both. I really love products that make life easier and make projects simpler. These brackets are not heavy but they are strong. And they're small enough that they're not going to be standing out in a bad way.I love that it's a 20 pack. Keep in mind that for one section of railing you'll need four brackets. This 20 pack is enough to do our project. That's awesome. The screws provided would be sufficient but I like a bit of overkill so I'll probably use larger screws.I'm giving this product five stars and I think if you have a project coming up this is something that you should seriously consider using.
