A perfect replacement for older single hung, non-tilt, alumunim windows.Those type of windows are typically 'builder's special' (what ever was on-special at the time) used this type of sprial balance with the clip/hook at one end; and are no longer used much anymore. This could leave you any option to replace (or in my case) repair. Newer window type typically use the square tube replacement balances.However although a pain to replace, these will save significant $$$ as opposed to replacing the entire window.Just be sure to first remove your existing balances and measure tube length, tube diameter and, if possible the tube insert cap color (ie, red, green,..).This seller (via Amazon) was great, and shipping even arrived 2 days early.If you need more info re: replacement just google sprial window replacement.Hint (Swisco has very good blog).

I replaced my old shot spiral balances with these on 4 of my windows. The windows move with little to no resistance and with no awful creaking and cracking like the old ones would do. These are hard to find with the clip and other places like Swisco don't supplies these anymore. I will be ordering them for the rest of the windows in my home!

These work so much better than my old plastic ones. I would advise measure 3 time to ensure you order correct size and order multiple to save on shipping
