What is a Car Thermostat?
A car thermostat is a small device that sits between the radiator and the engine of a liquid-cooled car. Its principal function is to regulate the flow of engine coolant from the engine to the radiator.
How Does it Work?
Car thermostat works by responding to the changes in the temperature of the engine coolant. If the engine coolant is cold, then the thermostat maintains its closed position. Once the engine coolant is hot enough, then the thermostat opens to allow the coolant to go to the radiator. This helps the engine to operate at the best possible temperature. A well-functioning engine means the engine oil is able to lubricate all parts of the engine while also removing harmful deposits. This can also translate to a reduction in harmful emissions while also improving fuel economy.

These thermostats are so tiny and I always check them out to make sure that they work and they work right. I get my Thermometer and put a pan of water on the stove and then when the water reaches the correct Fahrenheit I drop the thermostat in the water and make sure that it not only opens up at the right temperature but it closes on the right temperature. Testing it out not only makes me confident that it works but that I don't have to do the job twice. I have run into an occasional non working thermostats and I learned a long time ago to check them out and it saves me a lot of time.

The thermostat worked fine in a '96 Sportsman 500, until just past the return period. Maybe 20 hours of use. Messaged the seller (Yikesai) twice. No response. Amazon customer service took good care of it, but the seller (Yikesai) is a no for any future business with us.

Work perfect super easy to install ,the only complaint are that the o-ring gasket are to thin and I reuse the old one after hours because the new one come leaking quick
