Used in applications with nuts and bolts. The split lock washer provides a more uniform load distribution. The split in the washers grips the material surface to prevent loosening during vibration. The called out size is the inner diameter of the washer.

I always seem not to have a lockwasher when I need one and these Crown Bolt 32612 1/4 Inch Medium Split Stainless Steel Lock Washers, 50-Count, are nice to have at hand. The use of regular lock washers can lead to rust and corrosion in a wet and salty environment. These combined with Stainless fastener bolts and nuts are just what I need to perform maintenance on my Boat.

These things do not work as lock washers.These lock washers failed to lock the nuts onto the stainless steel bolts I was using, and since I live out in the woods I couldn't just run down to Lowes and get another set. So I had to have a friend use a screwdriver on the other side of the material I was working with to hold the slotted bolt in place. (The material was pressure treated wood which I was securing to an aluminum frame.)The bend and split of the washer appears to be minimal. I'm not a machinist but since these lock washers failed to do what they are supposed to do: Lock the bolt-I simply can't recommend them.

Used one of these washers along with a stainless nut and it worked as it should. Time will tell whether it rusts or not.

Good stainless steel split lock washers, better pricing than at Home Depot or Lowes. Arrived on time and I would buy again.
