Does not need to be used in a car. Can be used with home audio, headphones, etc. The mounting screw hole is very useful to keep it in place.

...to end the crazy buzzing sound when i attached the cigarette lighter/usb adapter to my phone to charge while listening to music thru the minijack from the phone going into the stereo deck head. i haven't listened very often in really quiet conditions, so i can't give a proper reading on exactly how much it killed the buzzing sound, but while driving around, it sounds 1000% better than before. this is used in a big freightliner box truck. would recommend for anyone having problems with ground loops in similar conditions.my only gripe would be that the cables into the device are both on the same side, and i would have preferred in one side and out the other, but that's a minor problem that i dealt with.

When I got my new phone and it didn't have a headphone jack, I needed an adapter to plug it into the aux input in my car to play music. But the adapter caused a ground loop buzz, which led me to this product. When I plugged the cord from the adapter in my phone into this isolator, and then the isolater into the aux input in the car, the buzz went away and everything sounds great.

I could not get it to do anything for any of my speakers. I even used it on speakers I knew had a ground loop issue and it still did nothing. The only time I could kind of get it to work sometimes was with the headphone monitoring jack for my microphone. It did help like 2 or 3 times with the static, but would eventually stop working or not work in the first place depending on when it was connected.I also know this static can be fixed with one of these noise isolators because I have another one with RCA connection that I used adaptors with. And it solved my issue with the headphone monitoring jack.Eventually after testing I took the noise isolator apart to see,1. if there was anything actually in it.2. if there was a bridged connection or something else causing it to not function. But sadly the whole thing is covered inside with some melted plastic or epoxy, and I can't get a good look at the board.

I will hang on to this. I just subscribed to a hifi audio service and I thought this would help me but it just sounded the same on headphones. I might get wired speakers and see if that helps but I can't afford it right now! No complaints but it didn't help and all this stuff is confusing so 4 stars!

I have a bluetooth adapter in my older vehicle. When the volume is up, I can hear a high pitched whine that matches engine RPM. This completely filtered out that noise. I love it!

This unit performs horribly in sound quality, no better than the 2 for $10 versions, and the 3.5mm jack also appears to be low quality as the sound would change if jiggled. However, this brand's other unit, the PRO version, is the best I've tried so far, the PRO version still has some audio quality degradation, but at least the music is enjoyable. https://www.amazon.com/WisWinDa-Isolator-Eliminator-Aluminum-Silver-Gray/dp/B0CDVXDB11?th=1 Dont waste your money on this, go straight to the PRO version.
