The spindles are too thick to put spools of thread on.

I was shopping for another wall-mounted thread rack but saw this great product! How much easier to store threads right at my machine, making mending much faster when I need to switch thread colors multiple times, and letting me move my thread from machine to machine. I love that all of my spool formats fit, even my giant ones (in the handy storage inside the box.Easy to screw together, instructions clear, everything fits BUT two pieces of wood were slightly warped -- easy to pull it into place when the screws were tightened. Also, the wood is unfinished. I bought a can of spray-on polyurethane and put coats on the inside and outside (after pegs were placed).

The thread doesn’t fit in the knobs and it was a bitch to put it together

Regular thread spools do not fit on the pegs. Therefore, you can only use cone type spools and spools with plastic centers with larger diameters.

i want to give this 4 stars because it's okay, once set up, but there are some issues. putting it together is kind of a pain, the hinges are super delicate but i only put one side on upside down, and thankfully i could unscrew it without having to disassemble anything further - so just know that 1. the pegs go in at an angle and the top and bottom of the two unhinged sides are indistinguishable unless you check the angle with a peg first. and 2. the pegs. darn. they are not going to hold any small sewing thread spools so if that's what you're getting this for, i will say this - the inner core is functional storage, hence the hinge. you can open the door to reveal two shelves inside which can hold a bunch of thread or whatever you choose. the pegs are great for washi tap and wider longer spools like the ones that hold that two-tone thread/twine often used to wrap gifts or larger ones - such as the "embroidery thread" it states in the title. so. all said, i think the $30 price point is fair but it's not going to work for "sewing thread."

This took a little time to assemble. However, it required very little skill to do so. It was easy - - just took some time and effort. And now I am very pleased to have the completed product, ready to use! I have not yet put my thread on it nor filled it with sewing accessories. But that will happen tomorrow. It is a lovely addition to my sewing room and will be very practical. I love that it holds as much thread as it does, that it spins and that it opens up to hold a plethora of other goodies inside on shelves. VERY NICE!!!
