The bottom line is that these are too crudely made for the price. I like the handles but fear they wouldn't be durable (as if snap ring pliers really see heavy use). I also like the ratcheting "hold open" function. It's easy to use and could be useful.The seller must've been spamming keywords (and has edited the ad title since) because I could've sworn the ad said that these work with internal snap rings. I figured they converted somehow (some do) but I was wrong. They're far too large for the snap ring I needed to remove, anyway.I say there are better options because I did some looking around and found a whole set of various pliers and picks - with a plastic case - for a few dollars more than this. I may pick that up someday. Or I'll keep using the wrong tools to remove snap rings. I'm sure this tool has its niche and it's really not that expensive for what it is. Unfortunately, its place isn't in my toolbox.

The construction is somewhat primitive as it provides undesirable flex and movement in the hinge. Thus, I have experienced both good to poor use and would not recommend.

I bought and returned two others before I got these. This was actually the only external snap ring pliers that showed the maximum width when open. The other's I bought were misleading or flat out wrong. I really liked the ratchet feature. Used to remove a 3" snap ring from my Bosch DEVS 2050. Circlips are such a pain in the butt. There are so many types and sizes and you definitely need the right pliers for the clips. It's infuriating that virtually all sellers on Amazon, Home Despot and Lowe's don't give all the specs. But these are good if you're trying to remove a large external circlip that is strong.

As the information about these pliers says they are only meant for external snap rings if you want to use them for internal rings you will need to hold the lock mechanism open with one hand and operate the pliers with the other. The rivets holding these pliers together were not rivited down all the way and wobble around in their holes, the spring is good enough to make the pliers snap back quickly. The locking mechanism works like it should and easily pops back open. These pliers are long and have a nice amount of leverage to them.

Either I am incompetent, or I don't see how these could possibly work for internal snap rings. It's sprung for external rings... so how could it possibly work for internals? The ratchet mechanism would need to flip around... which is not possible.As long as you're looking for external rings, these do a good job. I like the ratchet, which I've never had before. Easy to use, made well-enough for occasional use.

DO NOT BUY if you are looking for internal snap ring pliers. These are NOT switchable as description claims. External snap rings only. Do better Amazon.....
