The 3M™ Bayonet Assembly FF-400-08 is a replacement part to use with 3M Ultimate FX Full Facepiece Reusable Respirators FF-401, FF-402, and FF-403 (sold separately). The assembly includes an inhalation valve. This replacement accessory can extend the service life of respiratory protection equipment and potentially result in cost savings.

These respirators have a notorious problem. When this assembly wears out, it fails to stay in place holding the cartridge. That means your constantly having to reattach it. This fixed the problem. Granted, you need some strength to attach it in place. Once on it's locked in place.

Bayonet that came with the mask eventually started to become unsecure and would rotate while trying to attach filters. New ones are very difficult to attach and require clamps to secure but overall they work and are airtight.

My husband is a Union Laborer and works in Asbestos Containment and Remediation projects. I have always said that you simply cannot put a price of safety especially while working in health hazardous environments like my husband. Though his Union provides 3M half and full face pieces, I was still worried about his exposure to these hazardous elements and we did a lot of research on higher priced yet extremely effective respirators and 3M honestly considers safety a top priority, and as a result, we trust their products 110%. We decided on purchasing 3M's "Ultimate FX Full Facepiece" respirator. (Model # FF-402). The mask is an absolute life saver but you NEED to be aware of the "Bayonet Assembly Part" which is this replacement part. This part connects the compatible 3M filters to the full face respirator and due to the constant removal and reassembly of this part while changing filters, the part WILL eventually need to be replaced and you will know when that time has come when you notice air leakage. So it is very essential to purchase these replacement parts and have them on hand at all times, especially if you work with hazardous materials on a daily basis. The price of these replacement parts is quite affordable in my opinion and they keep my husband and myself reassured knowing his respirator is performing at its full potential.
