These are very inexpensive lenses, about 3$ each (price varies due to exchange rate with China), but takes about a month to arrive so plan ahead. We use them in a 3d printed mount, which holds a small pointer laser and the lens at the right angle to produce a sheet of light. You can see the spiral (vortex) next to the bright green line of the vertical circular metal plate near the top left of the picture. This allows us to use a high speed video camera to capture Particle Image Velocimetry data, to get very accurate estimates of the speed of airflow in our experiment. Altogether an under 75$ replacement for a 5,000$ laser system. The research is at a State funded University, so costs need to kept to a minimum. Recommended.

I got these to spread my laser beam into a line and it works very well. I had to fashion a little holder out of tape to hold the lens in front of the laser, now I can make cool cross sections of smoke for education purposes.
