I make journals and planners and needed material to strengthen the spines. I tried a couple of different options, including gaffers tape (terrible choice) and normal cotton cloth (ok, but not quite right). A friend told me try mesh binding cloth and I found this one. The pieces are large and easy to cut to the size I need for the 2 different sizes of books I make. They glue on nicely and are make a solid, reinforced spine. Good value for the price.

I have a pretty significant library with a small collection of vintage books. Some of the hardcovers are starting to come apart, and this is the purpose of this cloth. While I wouldn't repair any of my first editions by myself (I'm in no way skilled at this), I would have a go at the less valuable items, if only to keep them together and in readable shape. It's pretty easy to remove the existing binding, glue on the cloth, and press gently while drying.Again, I'd recommend professional restoration for valuable books, but this is good for lesser valued items.I'm happy with it.

I got this Book Binding Cloth which comes in 3 sheets of 39" x 45" as I have a few old books that can use some help to get restored.I know back in the days, there were a few printing shops that do these kind of work. I do not know any that exists now.Common sense tells me that it is not rocket science to repair a damaged spine of a book as it cannot get any worse. In fact, it is quite easy to do so and fun too if you do that with kids as a craft session. The cloth is easy to manoeuvre and can be cut to size with a pair of scissors. I used my rotary cutter on a mat to cut the size that I need. Then I trimmed to have it fit perfectly onto the spine and used regular craft glue (not glue stick) and let dry overnight. It works perfectly well, as advertised.
