I polished a piece of granite for the first time with this disk set. I also watched a YouTube video for the proper technique. The disks worked best on a grinder vs a drill and the project went as planned. I then did a second project with quartz same result. Professional quality pads.

This is an excellent set of polishing pads, I used these specifically to update a well worn granite countertop. They work well if you work you way through the grits from course to fine, there are some instructions included that tell you with which grits you need to use water.The abrasives seem long-lasting, I did an entire countertop and they don't really show signs of wear. Accumulated material washes off pretty easily.It's worth noting that the abrasive is on the opposite side of what seems like an abrasive. The side with the text is intended for the hook and loop, it took me a while to figure that out.The kit does not include a drill adapter for the backing pad, so I actually had to buy another to use it with a drill. It may fit an angle grinder directly as-is, but if using with a drill, you'll need a different backing pad.That aside, the pads themselves work great, and are a good value at the price point.

This is a surprisingly high quality kit of seven 100mm (about 4") hook & loop polishing pads of various grits and a backing wheel that is threaded to fit hand held polishing tools.The grits range from 50 to 3000, with the backs of the pads color coded and imprinted with the grit number. The cutting surfaces have a radial waffle pattern to provide cooling and slurry drainage when wet sanding and are manufactured from a resilient material embedded with what I assume to be industrial diamond grit.The backing wheel is of good quality and well balanced. The hook and loop bonding between the pads and the backing wheel is very aggressive and takes some effort when removing the pads, which is what you want to keep the pads in place.It should be noted that although the backing wheel fits on a standard angle grinder, there is an rpm limit of 5000 recommended and 6800 rpm max. Small angle grinders run at about twice that speed without a speed control. I tested these pads with a standard 4" angle grinder running on an electronic speed control set at the slowest speed. A 1/4" to 3/8" drill would give a good speed but you would need to find an arbor to adapt the backing disk to the drill.I tested this on the unfinished edge of a piece of flake granite tile. The coarser grits of 50 - 200 can be used dry and are very aggressive (and dusty) for smoothing out cut marks and beveling edges. Grits 400 and above are to be used wet, which as you can imagine is a messy process. As in any polishing process you need work with a particular grit until all scratches are removed from any previous coarser grits. You should only have scratches the size of the current grit over the entire area before proceeding to the next finer grit, and you should not skip grits. As I was doing a very small area to test I had the coarse saw-cut edge polished to a shine matching the face of the tile in just a few minutes. The hook & loop system is perfect for going through the grits in rapid succession.I didn't have great expectations for an inexpensive kit of diamond polishing pads, but this turned out to be pretty impressive. Highly recommended if you have occasional need to finish or repair granite, marble, quarts, or concrete.

I am used to using the polishers with round knobs on the bottom to polish granite and not these type with squares.They do work well and as intended and they are easier to keep study on flat surface than the round ones but more challenging to use on edges where I tried to curve the edge of the granite. I decided to use the squares for the flat surfaces and the round knobs to round out my edge corners.It says that you can use with or without water up to the 200 grit. I did not find this to be true for me. I needed to start using water starting with the 200 Grit and above.If I did not use water then I would see burn marks on the granite and those burn marks get rubbed in so you cannot wipe or clean them off, you have to use water and then polish them off. Not a big deal just something to be aware of.

Excellent small-area wet polishing method for metamorphic rock. Run up through the grits with patience to 3000 grit for the standard hi-sheen countertop. with patience to polish out countertop blemishes. Wet polishing and flood polishing, maintained behind a tinker's damn is best.These replace a set I've used infrequently for some years. I've never really worn the abrasive out. Diamond is embedded in a tuff polymer. The velcro gives up on one side or the other with use and age.
