These C-clamps are definitely up to the job, as you can plainly see in the photos. My plan is to retrain the warped pressure treated wood and once the lap joint stays closed, I'll use a copious amount of construction combined with a 5-inch x 1/4" engineered screw and 2-inch washer to make the joint permanent. The yellow bar clamp/spreader I tried in the beginning wasn't up to the job. No matter how hard I squeezed, the clamp would not close the gap between the top and bottom railing lap joint.I seriously don't know how I survived all these years without C-clamps. They're a "must have" and these are excellent quality, and ready for any task. I mean, I bore down on that lap joint something serious.

I'm on the fence about these C clamps. They are a nice size and they are a good price for 4 clamps, but they do not seem like they are particularly well-made. They feel cheap. The finish is dull and is chipping somewhere on all 4 clamps. Each of these 8" clamps weighs about 12% less than a more well-known brand 6" clamp I have. These clamps are probably fine for my home DIY use, but I don't think they would hold up well with heavy use.
