Old bushings and axles were worn and steering became very sloppy after 17 years. So replaced the axles and decided to install these wheel bearing instead of replacing the bushings. The removal of the old bushings was the hard part. Need a good solid drift tool and hammer to get them out. The wheel bearings went in easy. They required some light to moderate tapping with a hammer and socket. If you replace the axles, you will need to sand off some of the powder coating to make the bearings slide on when installing the wheel/hub assembly. the tolerance is tight. When using these wheel bearings, don't install the inner shim. It is not needed. Nice part of this, no longer need to grease the front axles on a regular basis and I hope never to do a bearing replacement again.

The bearings are a better idea than just bushings, I just wish they would have been wider. The original bushings were approximately 1" wide, the bearings are only a half inch wide.

I purchased the 4 pack of front wheel bearings, but the bearings that were sent were not what was pictured. I followed the correct procedure and contacted the company through email. They answered the next day to my surprise and apologized saying there was a mistake in shipping and the correct set of bearings were being sent. Again to my surprise the new set of bearings arrived in two days. I knocked out the old bushings and replaced them with the new bearings. One complaint was that they went on too easily so they had a tendency to slip out of the wheel when installing. Another complaint was that they had a lip that stuck out about 1/16" further than the bushing, so combining the 2 new bearings you had about 1/8" too much material so you couldn't put the washer on and then get the spring clip on. I had to carefully grind off the 1/16th lip on both bearings so I could assemble the wheel correctly. Once on the sealed bearings have functioned very well. Only time will tell.

For approximately the same price as replacement bushings, this package provides actual sealed bearings. The fit was perfect, both within the wheel and onto the axle shaft. When removing the old bushing holders/retainers (metal parts), be sure to use a punch or screwdriver from the other side to knock the bushing retainer out (through the wheel's axle shaft hole) so that the bearing can be inserted. Tap the new bearing in with a socket or other metal object so that you do not accidentally hit the bearing and damage it. That's all there is to it!

I replaced 19 year old plastic bearings that requried constant lubrication, with these units and have no regreats. The installation was straight forward and the fit to the wheel was as good as I had expected. Smooth rolling and true running. I would buy them again without a doubt.

(4 Pack) 1713167SM Snapper Simplicity Front Wheel Bushing to Bearing Conversion Kit - fit the front wheels on my Simplicity Broadmoor 15 hydro perfectly. Steer tires no longer flop around! Durability is ok so far after two months. Hopefully they will last longer than the plain OEM bushings.
