They pull down and lock in place. What I don’t like is they only lock in a few places when pulled down & if you remove the plant it snaps up to the top. It has to have constant weight. It needs to lock down without weight so you can remove the plant for full watering in you choose.

Can not get these to lower while plant is on them. When I follow the instructions to raise an inch it then locks at the new height until the full cord has been locked

These are really small and under constant tension. I needed a reel that could hold more weight and I could lock into position.I gave it 5 stars because they seem to perform as designed for their light duty purposes.

The product works great and it makes it so easy to pull the plant down to where I can reach it to water my plants — and then I push it back up when I’m done.

Love having these! It is so nice to be able to hang my flower baskets up high and be able to water them without having to get a step stool out or while reaching up to water them having water running down your arm. You can bring the baskets down lower and water the flowers.
