I bought this 3/8" collet several years ago, but have not used it much until recently. I have been using it in a Porter Cable plunge router to cut mortices. On some of the last few cuts. I couldn't figure out why the depths of the cuts were deeper than expected. On a following cut, the bit actually completely came out of the collet. Needless to say this extremely dangerous experience significantly damaged both my workpiece and my morticing jig. I initially thought I had done something really dumb, like not completely tightening the collet nut. I put everything back together and tightened really well. Monitoring additional cuts, I could see the bit continuing to slip out of the collet. I will be discarding this collet and have ordered a replacement from another manufacturer.

Recently purchased a set of up-spiral bits for creating mortises with my Porter Cable router. The set came with 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, and 1/2-inch bits and unfortunately the shanks match the diameter of the bits...this was problematic as I had a 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch collet for my router. I purchased the 3/8-inch collet and it arrived 2 days later. It fit perfectly and worked every bit as good as the 2 collets that came with my router. Actually it works better as the dimension of the threaded nut is a better fit in the openings of the pair of wrenches that came with my router. Despite the fact that I only have 1 router bit with a 3/8-inch shank, I am happy to have purchased this collet and would recommend this product to anyone in a similar situation.

Ordered for a pc693. Fit great, held the bit like it was supposed to. Looks exactly like the others I have. If you need one just buy it.
