This thing has been my go to for anything up in the air or deep in the closet! Closed it stands in the closet without hitting the ceiling but opened it reaches most of the gutters on the outside of the house. Attach a hose to it and you have a gutter cleaner. Attach a sponge and squeegee and you have an outside window cleaner!It is strong and not too heavy. A great general purpose pole!

- This is an interesting design for a boat hook. It is sturdy and has a decent heft. not flimsy for sure. But it has a few possibly deficient features:- The business end of the hook lacks any rubber coating, so will be prone to slipping on metal surfaces. I have personal experience with this issue: when fending off a metal piling (using the hook to push on a metal surface from the boat) the hard plastic tip of this boat hook will likely slip, and then you're falling into the water, which is no fun. A rubber coating to the tip would help in this regard.- The handle is designed to extend for use with manipulating more distant objects, which is good. But the extension part in the handle is smaller than the body of the pole. So the wider, heavier part of the boat hook ends up in the middle of pole when extended, which makes it unwieldy for use. Others I have used like this that keep the widest part as the handle when extended are better.

First thing I did when I got this was to see if the hook was a screw on style and the entire hook spun off in my hand. There was one badly set rivet holding the hook in place. Easy enough to fix with a tek screw. The hook is rather light duty , would have expected nylon fiber reinforced for an application like this. I would only recommend this for very small boat , kayak or canoe, the hook is going to flex or break if you stress this too much grappling with a bigger boat at a dock. My intended use is for with my kayak and also snagged lure retrieval while kayak fishing.My second complaint is the strong chemical odor while I believe is coming from the plastic handle grip. As soon as I opened box it was very noticeable.

I wanted to like this boat hook. The telescoping pole is sturdy and extends and retracts smoothly. The real failure is the very weak plastic hook. It twists and flexes way too easily and I'm certain it will break after less than one season boating. The plastic is thin and not reinforced with extra material where it should be. The slightest twist of your hand can twist the hook. The hook should really be made of metal. Not recommended.
