It's always an emergency when your wife says "the washing machine's broken". We have a 20-year old LG and I didn't want to spend a couple hundred to hear that it would cost many more hundreds to repair. A quick Youtube video assured me that it was the drain pump and that I could "easily" replace it. My experience, while not as "easy" as the video claimed, was at least doable. I have a few suggestions to those in a similar situation.The photos show several things. The two views of the old and new motors show that they are nearly the same size and shape. The slight differences do NOT affect the installation or operation. [Blue motor is the old one.] One thing that immediately bothered me was that the old motor's terminals were clearly marked "line" and "neutral" while the new motor had no such markings. Fortunately, I had photographed the old motor's wiring before disconnecting it. As you can see from the photo, it was then easy to match wire color with terminal. [SIde note: After I finished, I disassembled the old motor and found that the terminal spades were simply connected to an electromagnet. Polarity is not an issue and the "neutral" lug is not grounded.] One other use of a cell phone photo is also shown. It involved inserting the phone into the machine to find the plastic tab that holds the pump assembly in place. This photo prevented me from breaking-off the tab getting the pump loose.The new motor came with an extra O-ring and no instructions. It looks like the extra O-ring is very slightly thicker. However, the already installed O-ring appears to be the right size for my washer. It fit very tightly and I needed to apply a very small amount of silicone grease to the pump where the motor is inserted.Once installed and the washer reassembled [I highly recommend getting a "spring stretching tool" as it makes reinstalling the big retaining hoop on the door seal at least manageable. Under $10 on Amazon.] I turned the project over to the head of our laundry department. She ran the backlog over the next couple days and reported that the machine now works exactly as it should. There is no strange noise and the slight leak under the machine is gone. [Didn't know about that before.]I can't say how long this motor will last. However, as a synchronous AC motor, essentially a field coil with a permanent magnet for a shaft, it should last for many years. So far, it's doing great.

I've gone through 6 pumps so far in about 7 years, but they have all been different brands. This one is far better packaged, foam has been cut to the shape and it's well protected compared to the last that had a bit of bubble wrap and was bouncing around in a box. That's a good first sign. Also noticed the plastic on the body feels stronger. I can't know if it will hold up longer than the others until it fails or last longer than a year but my first impression is it will.I will update this is it fails in the next year.Other than seeming stronger, it's identical to the old pump and the swap is easy. It fit perfectly. Flow rating per min and power are the same as the old.I'm happy so far.If this is your first pump swap, removing the front door and front panel is faster and easier than the back. For me especially since my laundry room is small and it would require taking it out of the entire room.Also the hardest part is the ring holding the door gasket on and while it's possible to get it on and off through force, there is a tool that stretches the spring to make it easy to slip on and off.

These washer drain pumps are a pain to replace, and they seem to only last for a few years, but they can be replaced without being a repair expert, and without the need of specialty tools. I replaced mine and so can you.There are several good YouTube videos out there that show in great detail how to do the job so that anyone that is somewhat handy can do the job and save a bundle of cash by doing it yourself.The only thing I don't like is that these are made to fail, by design, and will only last for a few years at most. Just search for "planned obsolescence" and you can read all about it. Even the high priced OEM part doesn't last, so you can save yourself some cash by buying this non-OEM part, knowing you are going to have to replace it again someday anyway.So far, I've not really noticed any significant quality differences between these non-OEM pumps and the OEM ones. I've used both over the years, and had about equally bad results with both. This pump fits my LG washer and works like the original, however, it seems to be a bit louder than the original, so take that into account.

This works great for LG washers. It's a pain to replace it but it works great so far. Works like am OEM part. No complaints at all.

We have a secondhand LG washer (Model WM4270HVA) and it fit PERFECT. Literally the exact part we needed and our washing machine is no longer making the grinding noise. (Also, we were able to switch it out ourselves using a YouTube video). Highly recommend. Looks just like the photo, but unfortunately I did not get a photo of it before we installed it.

This looks identical and works like the original pump and the 3 replacements I’ve had since that one. These fail no matter the brand. It saves you some money while working fine until it doesn’t, which those of us with these washers know all to well. This model fits perfectly, and seems to be a bit quieter than the last but louder than the one prior. Overall, it’s working well for now so I don’t have any major complaints.
