generally OK but not really worth the price paid.

We tried the traditional cap erasers, when the eraser on our pencils wears down and becomes unusable, but they always end up breaking where the eraser connects to the little sleeve that slips onto the pencil. I saw these and decided to give them a try. I like that they are retractable, keeping the bulk of the eraser clean. They erase cleanly, without having to apply a lot of pressure, and they're smooth so they don't rough up or tear the page. They're cute and fun, great for kids.If you have kids, and need to buy multiple sets of school supplies, these come in a set of 4 with 8 refills included making it much easier to outfit everyone.

Photo:An imperfect experiment, but still informative when it comes to performance on pencil and erasable pen markings:(1) I pulled the eraser down the page in one continuous move. I applied very little pressure and tried to maintain the same amount of pressure with each of the different erasers and throughout each stroke.(2) I rubbed the eraser back and forth with firm pressure the way most people do when erasing a writing mistake.I wish I knew what the two eraser brands are that I used on the left; they are likely to be major brands commonly sold in brick-and-mortar stores. I'd guess the pink one (leftmost) is the brand that sells the Pink Pearl erasers.Review:For those who like their pencil-written notes to look pristine, these erasers are phenomenal! I didn't have to use much pressure with the eraser or rub many times over mechanical pencil markings for the graphite to be removed clean without smudging. In playing around with the eraser, there is very little transfer of graphite from eraser to paper, and when it does happen, it comes clean off the page with another stroke of the eraser. They appeared to outperform the other erasers I had wrangled for this experiment—but only for the pencil markings. I might even use this for my art pieces (e.g. light pencil drawings on Arches watercolor paper)!Every single item came individually wrapped in plastic, and all within a resealable plastic bag, which is rather wasteful. I'm guessing these erasers are made of polyvinyl chloride, so maybe someone in manufacturing decided the comparative harm of the erasers was way worse than all the plastic packaging?I do not recommend these erasers for erasable pen (see photo). Personally that is not a concern for me as I use pencil most of the time. The only major gripe I have is that the end of the eraser sticks out of the holder, meaning it is subject to detritus and the physical traumatic forces of being jostled about in a pencil case or backpack with no protection. Minor gripes include: the plastic characters having light but distinctly different and unpleasant synthetic chemical smells, hot glue "strings" still coming off of the characters, and the hot glue being a visible blob when viewed from the side (but thankfully not from the front).Still giving 5 stars because eraser performance has me astounded.Edits done for clarity and correcting auto-"correct".
