These are a great way to send a signal between systems that cannot be directly connected, working like a miniature relay. Fast delivery, well packaged, and I already bought more, since they were so awesome. In my case I wanted to send a 12-volt signal from the car headlights, reverse lights, and ignition switch to a raspberry pi mounted in the car. Everlanders, an awesome youtuber, has a walkthrough of his system using optocouplers, as well as scripts to copy and paste, and instructions to get it working.
