I live in a fairly safe area, but from time to time there have been cars broken into. Saw this and thought why not. Sure, criminals know that they are just a little flashy light, but if they are walking along, seeing which car they might want to break into and see the flashy light at night, they might choose another car. For this price, it is not going to protect your car, and if I drove nicer or more expensive cars, that for some reason didn't have an alarm system, I would probably have one put in. But, for my area, might discourage someone, which is all I can hope for. This is a set of 4, each has a solar panel, a micro USB and a switch on the side. When it is dusk, or in a dark area, it flashes about every 4 seconds. With such a low draw, it should last several days, even without much sun. I don't know how well it will do charging through a windshield, but so far so good. Fine product for what it is.

At four bucks each, I'd say the value is in what they provide. The detractors are they don't actually secure anything and since they're available to buy, thiefs may know that they're fake. That said, you're getting something that has a solar cell, flashing light, charge port and light sensor. With all those things together, the value of those items is what you're looking at here. If it happens to actually prevent a break in, well that's a bonus.Speaking of bonuses, you can stick these to your tortoise and easily locate them in your yard at a distance.

I jumped at the opportunity to order this since it seemed like it would be a useful security item.I noticed once day that my neighbors security floodlight setup has a visible tiny red LED light on the side that's visible from the street at night. I happen to know there's no camera device up there but the visible red light give that impression, and it's sufficiently far away that there's no way to know for sure. I imagine that someone casing the house might chose to move along after seeing it. So I've been trying to duplicate this effect without embarking on a major wiring project. This device I thought promised this kind of utility: a LED light mounted up high at the end of the driveway which would be recharged daily with a small solar panel. And while I'm going to try it out, I'm not hopeful for longevity, since the device does not appear to be weather-tight at all, and has an exposed USB charging port without a gasket or cover. And the light is recessed a bit in the plastic housing, so if I orient the solar panel upward to collect sunlight, the lamp is Alsop pointing up at the sky, which will only deter the birds flying overhead.Version 2 needs to have a raised LED (or just put it on the side) and a weatherproof housing. If it's actually solar powered, it may not even need a USB portGonna try it anyhow with the solar panel pointed to the street. Maybe there will be enough light to charge it even though the panel isn't directed at the sun.Quite small, BTW. 2" long and 1" wide. Depth is about 1/2 inch

Some cars do not have a visible light to indicate there is a security system installed. As a result, theft may be more likely if someone doesnt recognize there is security system. Even if the alarm sounds, a thief may have already broken the glass. I installed into two older cars to help deter potential thieves. Mounted near the rear view mirror inside on one car and on the dash near the glass on another. The solar keeps the small internal battery charged and it automatically turns on at night. So far, so good.

I like passive theft deterrents like this. It doesn’t thwart the thieving pro, but it can prevent opportunistic thieves. I have been asked to review video captured from a prominent fake security camera that also blinks so it is noticed.

These are good to deter look-aloos in a parking lot or add an extra layer of security by spoofing
