I ordered these for a dog food bin that had a plastic lid the rats were eating so I converted it to aluminum and used these latches. Problem solved. These are pretty nice latches, but not super heavy duty, the wire part is 2.5 MM, the Sheet metal is about 1.5 MM. So far they seem to hold up well to daily use, I would recommend them.

Metal is too thin โ I returned these - Designed to be pretty not strongIf only the metal had been of normal toolbox latch thickness these latches would have been ideal. They are designed and made very well. There are no sharp burrs left over from manufacturing. All the pieces are well formed. The latch spring mechanism works flawlessly. However, the metal is very thin so these are suitable for only a tiny lightweight box such as a jewelry box or something similar.
