I chose to use these for our fenders, as they are easy to use and I can set a length, tie them and they are ready for when I need them. Since there is a loop in the line, I simply made a eye in the length and put it through the stitched end then put the loose end through that eye at the length needed to put around the cleat. Once I have this done, I tie on a fender at the appropriate length. Voila, I have fenders that are ready to deploy at a moment's notice when docking.

These are very thin and small. Our boat is just a 18" Duffy and we wouldn't trust these ropes to tie it up to the dock securely. The loop is very small as well and not adjustable. These would work for attaching the bumpers to the sides of the boat but that's about it.
