I wasn't about to hand sand it all. This made my life and the project go much quicker. I even saved further by buying a 'used' model that is essentially a return or damaged packaging.

I had a high-end body shop for 20 years. There were two types of random orbit air driven sanders on the floor. One of them was the side handle DA, and the other was this paddle type directly over the top of the sander. With this paddle type you were able to focus on keeping the sander flat thereby not digging grooves, or valleys in your work. Not that the DA side handle/arm was incapable of doing that, it just didn't do it with as much ease as this one.The crazy thing on this sander is the price. The popular sanders on the floor cost many times this price. For this kind of price, I knew I wanted to take a chance and I am glad I did. It's smooth. Be sure and put a few drops of air tool oil in it before every use. Another approach is to put in a few drops when you are done using it, and run it through a little bit so the internals are soaking in oil, and it is ready for the next time you use it. All in all, this is great for a spare, even if you already have one something like it.
