The OEM edging kits never come with enough spikes. Theses pikes worked quite well. If you encounter a rock or other obstruction preventing the spike from going all the way down use a metal rod to create a pilot hole or cut the spike to the desired length.

These are not the sturdiest but get the job done as secondary anchors. Use something else more sturdy as the primary anchors. My previous homeowner cut corners and left 2/3 of the spike openings unused. I bought these to fill the unused openings. The first time I used this the bottom cracked off. Then the top broke. I thought I had bad spikes. But the ground was hard, and when I went to softer ground the spikes went in. Sometimes the bottoms twisted on about 10 of them but I was still able to put the spike in. One or two I could not use but the rest I used.

The plastic nails seems sturdy enough.Used mine in 2 layers (stone dust and gravel).Hammer slowly and hit the plastic head right on and NOT on an angle. I did break one nail (head) as I did it too fast.Now it is a wait and see, for spring to come and see if they have moved or not with the freeze-thaw period.
