I love the 5.11 brand and had extremely high hopes for these boots after reading reviews and looking into them. I unfortunately had to return them after only a couple of days because they were causing extreme pain. There is NO padding at all around the top of the boot, this means that you have an extremely sharp edge of canvas/fabric digging into the back of your calves even when properly laced and wearing high / thick cut socks. This isn't a matter of simply breaking them in either because the material isn't suede or leather - it's canvas, there is no breaking it in or softening it up with use. It seems like such a blatantly obvious design flaw and if you look at pretty much any other boot on the market both military/LEO or civilian, you'll see that they have padded rims.

They are nice boots, but they are not the correct color for the Air Force—they are not coyote brown. Given how lax today's standards are, you may be able to get by without being called out, but there is a chance you could get called out and waste money.

They hold up well. Fit snug, definitely run a little tight/small not for wide feet.
