The cable was overall the correct length. However, the grommet placement made it about 2" short for the inside. Since the grommet was crimped around the cable, it could not be easily moved. I was able to move it after I used silicone on the cable and worked it for awhile. After that, the fit was good and I now have a hood release again. Having to work on the grommet is the reason for the 1* ding. After watching a number of YouTube videos, this cable seems to be the weak link of the 3 cables, so I'd suggest removing the release handle every once in awhile just to observe the cable for any fraying.

Worth every penny, I don't have to use pliers anymore to open my hood, after watching a video on youtube that explains how it works it's easy to do with some torx screws and a couple phillips screws.

Fit just right and works well. I just wish the original plastics from BMW were better... you need to be very careful removing all the parts as to not snap anything.
