About this item

  • Valve cover, or head cover, as it is referred to on some engines, is mounted to the top of the cylinder head to cover the moving parts of the valve train. This typically includes the valves, the valve springs, and even the camshafts. These parts are continuously lubricated with oil to reduce friction. This oil is constantly splashed around within this system and the valve cover keeps the oil inside of the engine. Valve cover is also the access point to perform valve adjustments on many engines.
  • If valve cover becomes loose or if the gasket material fails, the oil will begin to leak. If the leak continues for a long time, it may start to affect the way the engine runs. A leak can cause the engine to have a very strong smell of burning oil, and in some serious cases, it can even cause a fire if enough oil gets onto the exhaust system.Catching a leak early on and can help you keep your vehicle running asap. Replacing a leaking valve cover so that you can protect a leak at the earlier.

What is it?

Valve cover is typically mounted to the cylinder head through a series of bolts and a rubber gasket. If the valve cover becomes loose or if the gasket material fails, the oil will begin to leak. Most valve covers will start leaking slowly without any effect on the engine. Over time, the leak will become larger and the engine oil will begin to coat different parts on the outside of the engine. If the leak continues for a long period of time, it may start to affect the way the engine runs.

If the valve cover is leaking, you will need to replace it. Failure to replace the gasket can result in issues ranging from burning smells to engine misfires and can even cause a fire to occur. Therefore, you need to service your vehicle yourself or inspect it often. When you notice drops of oil on the ground, smoke coming from under the hood once the engine is warm, or even get a strong smell of burning oil, you'd better to replace your valve cover.

Price was very reasonable. Cover was broken in a spot that would not effect working. It was packaged broken due to no broken part in packaging. I did not have time to return and get another. But part works as described. Not real happy buying a broken part.

Major leaks! Installed leaks came from bolts and oil cap. Tried test driving it and the pvc valve was bad. Contacted amazon they sent a replacement and replacement leaked worse. Not worth the hassle of returning this one again I went to another site and purchased a gm part installed and works great. No leaks engine is running right. Don’t be like me and try to save a couple bucks it’s not worth it pay the extra $30 to get oem part it will save you time and stress

My husband was able to install it. He said the process was easy after watching a few videos. The price and convenience of ordering a part for a reasonable price was valuable.

My boyfriend bought this for his 2012 chevy cruise and it fit perfectly. We bused the “used-like new” option for $31 and it looked brand new. It was awesome! I’d highly recommend. We saved sooo much money buying through Amazon.

Would have spent more money to buy this at the auto part store and wouldn’t have gotten the gasket included. Arrived on time and great value!
