The actual tool isn't too bad to use but the provided inserts are very easy to chip and once chipped they're basically done on that cutting edge. A busy of mine gave me some titanium nitride (TiN) coated inserts that fit well and I haven't broken one if those yet!A bit of a mixed bag, good tool, not so good inserts. Expect them to go quickly and replace them with better.

I tested this product under light loads and they both snapped. I purchased a different one from another vendor and it works wonderful.

Inserts cut a square bottomed grove a few thousands less than 1/8 inch, allowing for a clean up cut on each side and netting a perfect 0.125 groove. The tool is OK, and basically free when one considers the price for this set is less than value of the included inserts. Others have complained of breaking tool. I suspect they are hand feeding the tool and taking too big a cut. I used the power feed on my lathe and had no issues with my tool

It hasn't broken on me and seems OK. It's not a high quality tool, but for the money it seems fine.

Excellent economy grooving insert tool. This set comes complete with 10 dual edged carbide inserts that cut very well. The tool adds extra material at the business end to aid in tool rigidity and I had no issues with chatter or any unwanted insert oscillations. Also there was very little push off when running the tool in across a stepped surface as long as you're mindful of your feed.The tool can be used for grooving or as a medium depth cutoff tool.SP300 style insets are very common and can be easily obtained if you desire different cutting materials or different geometries.I don't see how you could get much better than this for the price. The set of inserts is probably very close to the cost of the tool itself. I am very happy with this set and it represents very good value.
