my flywheel was pretty stuck on but that has nothing to do with the product.. it works great and was just drop in I had no issues or complaints with the quality or install, tip if you pull off your starter you can help out your puller by tapping the back of the flywheel with a rubber deadblow hammer just be careful cause at least on my engine the gears are aluminum and damage easily.. minor dings ( less then 1/4 of the tooth can be smoothed flat with a file)

I have a Husqvarna YTH1542 with a Briggs and Stratton model 311777-0164-E1. This product says it fits the 311777, but it's different. I ordered before tearing into the engine. It turns out that the existing alternator has one black wire coming off of it whereas this product has two yellow wires. So I believe my mower has the "Tri-Circuit" alternator which is mfg #592829 whereas this product is designed to replace mfg #592830. Frustrating to order by engine model number and still get the wrong thing. Otherwise, this "Made in China" product looks OK.

Not sure why the voltage is low on the alternator. I can't get past 5 volts directly to the alternator and charging barely creeps at high rpm to 12.9 Not sure if a load with lights would boost the regulator output. I would need to test with 12 volt lights. This is on an older Briggs horizontal single cylinder engine that was on a Simplicity tractor. The purchased part number is on the list for this engine from another site. I tried different regulators with the same results. I don't want to do a return or exchange and get the same results. An Ohms test on the alternator was passing.

I paid a professional to install this. And it worked for 1 day. Now won’t charge the battery that’s brand new. Waste of $ and time. Seller should make it right.
