I wanted something a bit more realistic than regular play sand but still easy to clean and suitable for growing live plants, and this natural stone sand did the trick.The particles are larger than typical sand, but not quite as big as pebbles. Since it's made from crushed rock, the sand is jagged, not rounded like beach sand. This gives my tank a more organic feel, and when paired with some java moss and live plants, it looks like a riverbed in the jungle.The sand arrived fairly clean with minimal dust, so there was very little pre-washing needed. Overall, I’m pleased with the quality and how it enhances the natural look of my aquarium.

We recently got a large fishbowl and needed some furnishings for the fish. This gravel is really great in it being a natural color compared to some of the hot pink and bright blue stones that would never exist in nature. Not that it may matter to the fish but it does to me. This is a good amount of gravel but you would need several bags for a 5 gallon or larger aquarium. The gravel is a nice quality and looks great.

Clear bag secured with tape, with no words at all except Made in China. These words are not in the advertisement. The problem is that transporting the product to US causes more pollution. Most "plant people" worry about those things. Also, there is no label listing ingredients, company name etc. I will do better vetting in the future.

Don’t ask me what I was thinking. I have a whole yard of pea gravel, but when it said it was for fish tanks I bought it. It’s no different than the gravel that you get when you landscape as far as I can see, but it is gravel and can be putting in the fish tank, so I can’t complain. It is what it is. Besides, I’d have to wash mine and sift out the dirt, so there’s that. Also all of these are smooth and a prettier color rocks than my gray rocks. Ok I guess I’m changing my mind😊 you get 5lbs of what I also call river rock for about 16.00.

Making the fishes a home in an aquarium. In the set-up phase, and beginning with the very bottom they hug to know where they are in the fishy world. Then, of course, the all-important good bacteria will do their duty and create the cycle necessary for a healthy aquarium. The rocks come in various colors and shapes, which makes a pebbled flooring for the aquarium. Most are curved and rounded like pebbles. Washed the rocks three times, and only a little bit of dust and a few extremely small sand grits in it showed up in the basin. Wet rocks have even more intriguing colors. It should make a good base in the open areas of the aquarium. Easy to handle bag it comes in, clean rocks to begin with, and easy to manage in a 20-gallon aquarium. The coloring makes a statement and is pleasant to look at in the new fishy home.

I used about half of this 5lb bag as substrate in a 3 gallon fish tank and it works well. I have plenty left over to use with some of my house plants as well so I'm pretty happy with this. It's in a pretty thick plastic bag so I didn't have to worry about any spills or messes (aside from the ones I made) and it gives a natural look to my tank which is just what I was going for.

This aquarium sand is lovely. It’s coarse enough that it won’t be an issue with my sand cleaner. It has a much more natural look that the sand you get at the pet store or the sand blasting sand that I’ve gotten from the tractor supply. The bag weighed 5lbs 15oz when I got it delivered. There was plenty of sand to cap the soil in my 10-gallon tank. I’ll certainly be ordering from them again.
