These are very nice shells and can be used for any craft purpose, not just a pet hermit crab. The size is generous but not too large and I loved the color variations from all 5 of the shells. Some of these will be used for crafts and some will be a "treasure" for my grandson to dig up in the sandbox. I give this 5 of 5 stars for all the above reasons.

This is a nice assortment of 5 shells. They are not shiny. It feels like they have been buffed to get rid of sharp points, which I can appreciate. There are also no holes (especially in the all-so-important water stores) I decided to grab these because they are supposed to be 1.5-2 inch openings, and I saw a turbo in the picture. I figured it was a win if I got one good shell. (My hermits prefer turbo shells, and 1.5 openings are hard to find.) Well, the one turbo in the bunch was only 1.25 inches. That's a bummer. The rest of the shells are 1.5, but my crabbies tend to be picky and always go for a turbo. I'm going to boil these and put them in the terrarium so they are there when my guys come up from their spring molt. I hope they give the other shells a try, because they would be big enough. It is just disappointing that the one shell I really wanted did not come in the stated size.

I got these to use for craft purposes, specifically, in terrariums.The first picture shows 6, there are 5 as stated in the description and other photos. As described, they are natural, no paint or stain or anything to make them shiny. They are between 2 and 3-1/2 inches long, the openings range from 1-1/4 to 2 inches at their widest point. The shells are all different.They are very poorly packed; the 5 shells are simply put in a small, corrugated box. It was small enough that they wouldn’t move too much during shipping. Yet only one cracked and a small piece broke off (the piece was in the bottom of the box). Since it was a small chip, and on only one edge, I may still be able to use the shell.Considering these are natural and not manufactured, the webpage describes them well except for the parts about hermit crabs, I have no knowledge about them.

I feel a little guilty using these in my planters when a living creature could be noodling around in them at the bottom of the ocean, but it is what it is. They're LARGE and cool looking! They'd make great aquarium decor especially if you have a hermit crab in need of a home. You could also paint them or whatever else. I'd definitely order these again.

This is a nice set of 5 shells, (although the picture shows 6). They are accurately described as to size, and colored similar to those in the picture. They appear to be clean, and odor free. They arrived in perfect condition although they were just packed in a small cardboard box without any packaging.

I ordered these for my hermit crabs. With sets like these, it's like a gamble if you have larger crabs. The title and description both say large, and between 1"-2" openings. I was hoping the turbo shell opening would have been atleast 1.5", but I should know by now the turbos are always tiny in these kits.The shells are in really good shape, and very clean. Obviously, there's always some chips and stress cracks, but there are very few on these.I wish these would have worked for my 2 big cabbies, but unfortunately they didn't. The ones that do have larger openings, are shallow in depth.Even though they didn't fit my boys, I still very much recommend these, but not for large crabs, more of a medium size, just remember it's always a gamble with what shells are what size, in these types of kits. Definitely a great deal if they're in your size range.Hope this helps.

The shells look very nice, very bright and colorful. There are five varieties of shells in the set. The shells are large, exactly as advertised. All the shells are of good quality. They have arrived in perfect condition with no cracks or chipped edges. The shells make great decoration in the front yard. Would definitely recommend for garden decoration.
