LM75 Temperature Sensor High Speed I2C IIC Interface temperature sensor

Product Description:

LM75A is a high-speed I2C interface, temperature sensor, in the temperature range -55 ~ + 125 Centigrade The temperature was directly converted to digital signals, and to achieve the accuracy of 0.125 Centigrade. MCU can be read directly via I2C bus data in its internal registers, and through I2C to four data registers operates to set different operating modes. LM75A has three selectable logic address pins, making it possible to connect eight devices without address conflict on the same bus.

Features:

1. I2C bus interface, the device address 7 slave address 1001xxx, can expand outside eight devices on the same bus.

2. Power range: 2.8V ~ 5.5V, temperature range: -55 ~ +125 Centigrade.

3. 11 ADC provides a temperature resolution of 0.125 Centigrade.

4. Temperature accuracy: ±2 Centigrade(-25 ~ 100 Centigrade) ±3 Centigrade (-55 ~ 125 Centigrade).

5. Programmable temperature threshold and hysteresis set points.

6. In order to reduce power consumption, the current consumption in shutdown mode is only 1.0uA.

7. On power-up the device can be used as a stand-alone temperature controllers.

ESD protection:

  • Under the JESD22A114 standard, it can pass the 2000V HBM mode;
  • Under the JESD22A115 standard, it can pass the 200V MM mode;
  • Under the JESD22-C101 standard, it can pass the 1000V CDM mode;
  • The latch test made under the JEDEC standard (JESD78) can reach 100mA;
  • Small 8-pin package: SO8, TSSOP8 and ultra-small package XSON8U.

These do work, but with the following notes:1) accuracy according to the LM75 datasheet is +/- 2C (25C to 100C) and +/-3C outside that, not +/-0.125 as advertised2) 9 bits of data not 11, sign bit plus 8 bits of temperature data. LSB is 0.5C (0.9F) which also makes the claimed accuracy of 0.125C difficult to achieve3) Fairly high thermal mass i.e. slow response4) Yes you can configure the I2C address – very useful if you want several sensors on the same bus, but see the next note.5) Weak I2C interface. I realize that the I2C bus was designed for inches rather than yards, and these do indeed work over short distances – in my experience up to about 4 feet. In the past l have able to reliably read an SHTC3 (I2c Temp and Humidity) over greater than 30ft. Unfortunately the SHTC3 only supports a single address, so I had hoped these sensors, with selectable addresses, would allow me to have multiple sensors, on the same bus, with reasonable physical separation – not to be. After some investigation I found that adding an I2C bus terminator (LTC4311) got me to about 15ft. Then, strangely, if I also added an SHTC3 to the bus I could run >30ft.
