If you live in Florida you probably have some oaks and/or pine trees near by which do a number on clogging up gutters during the daily summer storms and hurricane season. The down spout filters are a great help in stopping the leaves and pine needles and making it easier to scoop them up.They also could not be easier to install, just drop them in at the top of the downspout and you're done. I expect these will save me a bit of headache when our daily summer rain storms begin.

These are a very simple aluminum gutter guard, a little larger than a can of soda but they are completely adjustable so you can kind of roll them up tighter for a smaller gutter or stretch the mesh more open for an extra large gutter. This is about the only thing that will stop a downspout from being packed full of leaves!

Our two-story house is surrounded by large deciduous trees, fifty to a hundred years old, and the gutter guards I installed don’t prevent all of those leaves from making it to the downspouts where they can form a clot that blocks the downspouts and causes a waterfall over the gutters. I have seen these strainers on other houses and don’t expect them to be a perfect solution; in fact, they might aggravate the biggest problem since leaves that might otherwise make it down the downspouts are more likely to form a blockage at the entrance to the downspout. Arguably, this is better than having the downspouts blocked but that has only happened a few times in the forty years we’ve owned our home. In contrast, blockages in the gutters near the downspouts happen once or twice a year. That would not be a big problem for me if we had a one-story house and it was easy to reach the gutters from the ground but working on top of a 28-foot ladder is more challenging, particularly when you are 73 years old with a bum knee. In any case, it was easy enough to install one of these strainer in a downspout that was within easy reach on a second-floor porch but I will withhold overall judgement until I see how that works out next fall.

SHARP SHARP SHARP!These gutter guards work well and can be mashed to fit into a spout, but make sure you wear gloves as they are sharp. They are easy to install and cannot be easily seen once in place preventing an eyesore. Value of price is good as you get 4 of them in 1 package. They look plain and cheap, but do the job and aren't visible, so that doesn't bother me. I don't know hoe durable they will be as they will probably rust over time, but only time will tell that.

I have to deal with a lot of long leaf pine needles and oak leaves getting stuck in my gutters. We have the gutters cleaned out pretty frequently but the issue is that debris end up working their way down the downspout. These guards were perfect for keeping the debris out. I still need to clean my gutters regularly but I don't need to reach my hand up the downspout and pull out the debris. I imagine they'll last a good while and were pretty easy to install. For what they cost, and the trouble they save me, I think they're definitely worth the cost.

Twice animals have ripped off my downspout extensions while chasing prey that hid in them! It cost me 50 bucks to replace the damaged parts. I needed to find something to prevent this from happening again.I did a little research & found some one who suggested using down spout screen guards. Seemed like a cheap & easy solution. These are very light & flexible. The edges are very sharp so I wore gloves while shaping & installing them. The opening is 3" x 4" & these fit pretty well with a little bending. There seems to be enough friction to hold them in when it rains. I hope this works!

I recently cleaned my gutters after a few years of neglect and was STUNNED to discover that the downspout strainer I had installed last time, which I purchased from my hardware store had completely rusted so badly it was breaking apart. I was NOT HAPPY, especially since I had paid what I considered an obscene amount for some expanded metal fabric formed into a cylinder. I went and cut some galvanized metal fabric and made a new one to replace it. BUT THESE ALUMINUM ONES are FANTASTIC. They will NEVER DIE. Well, EVENTUALLY they will corrode enough to need replacement, but that'll be well after I'll be needing them anymore...GET THESE THEY ARE GREAT.

Not a lot to say. They stuff into your gutter down spout holes well enough and seem to stay just fine. Certainly good for keeping a bunch of stuff getting stuck in the down pipes themselves, though it can be a bit of a hassle dealing with stuff getting stuck in the screen. At that point, I just pull them out, clean them out, and stuff them back in.Can be bent and squished into the shape you need.
