Good quality switch. Fit and worked great, small footprint but very adequate for 6AWG wire. My only complaint was that the screws on the grounding lug were torqued down too hard and so I could only use one hole for both grounds because the second one would have to be drilled out it was so tight.

Exactly met my needs for a manual non-fused disconnect for my 240 volt automotive lift. The switch housing is designed for outdoor use and so doesn't have provision for through-the-top wire runs. My installation was an indoor one so I drilled the top to allow a connection through the top, not a problem in my case. The switch action itself feels solid and well designed, a quality item at a fair price and not available to me at this price locally..

I've worked in a commercial building for years. And you tend to see these disconnects around heaters, motors, and smaller HVAC installations. I'm adding an electric heater to my garage and such an installation requires a "means of disconnecting...at least 125% of the ampere load...within sight of the unit...and with the ability to lock in the open (off) position". If you're not picky, less than $10 will get you a T-handle pull out stlye box that meets these standards. However, I wanted the industrial style with a "throw swicth". These are hard to find cheaply. Most are fused types and quick go from over $50 to several hundred dollars. This 60A non-fused switch is exactly what I wanted. This is for a 3 wire install (2 HOT, 1 equipment GND) with a max of 240VAC. If you need a 4 wire install (2 HOT, 1 NEU, 1 GND) you could run an uniterupped NEU wire thru this box and to your appliance. Wiring this unit is no more difficult than a light switch. However unless you're an experienced DIYer with a good working knowledge of electrical installations and saftey practices...I'd hire a professional. Plesae note I am not a licened electrician and do not claim to know or be in complaince with the National Electric Code, nor any local building ordinaces. If you do intend to install this on you're own make sure your sizing you're wire properly to breaker feeding this circuit. There is no overcurrent protection in this box. It is simply a saftey disconnect for working on the appliance itself. Also be aware that you will required in almost all situations to run this wire in soime type of conduit.I will update in the future as to how it holds up, but all parts seem well built. The disconnecting throw is solid and all connections are pre-greased. The casing is tough as is the finish. This box can be installed inside or outside. There are locking holes for a padlock or utility's tag on the bottom for the lid as well as on the side to lock the hammer in the open (off) position.
