I always find myself in a project where I have to replace a bolt or two, and it's almost always a size I don't have on hand and I have to make the journey to the hardware store and hope it's in stock there. And of course, it usually isn't, so I have to go on yet another journey until I find it.This set saves me from that hassel. Having a set of mid-sized fasteners in different sizes and lengths right there ready to go is totally worth the cost to me. It's already saved me at least two trips to the hardware store. The nice thing is that when I start running low on something I can just replace it the next time I'm at the store for something else. The storage case is nice and durable, and the hardware seems to be good quality. Just make the purchase, you'll be happy you did!

This is a great kit packed with plenty of high quality grade 8 hardware. A must have in any mechanics garage. It offers many of the common and much needed sizes at a more than affordable price. I was very surprised and pleased with the strength and durability of the case that it comes in as well. Great value!

Review for the Flanged Bolt kit: At almost 23#, this is a substantial assortment of hardware. The sizes are great and unlike many bolt assortments, this set is not crammed with lots of small stuff to get the piece count high.The box is all metal, and is only one step down from professional grade. Even the dividers are metal. The entire box and dividers are made from 19ga-.042 thick steel, with a generous layer of textured paint everywhere. An interesting construction note, even though the box is built with normal spot weld flanges, all the assembly has been done with TIG welding. For instance the hinge is a common piano hinge, and instead of spot welds holding it to the cover and base it is held with 3/8” long welds every 2”. The dividers are tacked in place too, as are the metal hoop carry handle and mounting plate, and the two all-metal over center latches and strike plates.The quality of the fasteners appears great, nicely formed and plated. Quantities are as claimed, actually with one extra each of the M6 x 12 screw and M6 nut. The “4 bits” referred to in the ad copy are four sockets, 10,13,15 and 18mm. There’s also a weird 3 way wrench with 11,13, and 15mm 6-point heads. The 11mm doesn’t fit anything here, or almost anywhere else for that matter. None of this seems very useful, perhaps a good approach would be to discard the 3-way and the four sockets, and break the weld tacks and remove the divider that creates the narrow slot the sockets reside in. 5 stars for an assortment and sturdy case that will last for many years.

I weighed the hardware included in this 621 pc SAE kit and it came out to 7.875 lb. At the current list price of $119.99 That's over $15/lb for regular grade 8 hardware, which is more than double what I pay at the local farm store for grade 8 hardware by the pound. The extra cost can be attributed to the included metal case, which is indeed very heavily built. It's way stronger than I'd have expected, although the dividers arrived slightly bent because they aren't welded to the sides. In my opinion the included tools could have simply been left out - they're very cheap and anyone buying this quantity of hardware certainly already owns better versions of these tools. They also bumped up the total number of pieces in this kit by including a slew of split lock washers, which obscures the fact that you're not really getting very many bolts for your money. I wish that like the metric versions of this kit, the SAE one could have included one more size, either 7/16" or 1/2". Not sure why they stopped at 3/8" where the metric kits go up to 12mm. Oh well.I'd say to avoid this kit in the SAE size, unless you just have no other options or love the organizational case, because otherwise it's just not an economical way to buy hardware. That said, I'd actually recommend this seller's metric flange bolt assortment because it appears to be a fantastic deal for the price. Those bolts usually cannot be bought by weight and are therefore very expensive.Even though I'm being pretty critical here, I'm still leaving a four star review simply because everything was as advertised, and there are no surprises. If you're happy with the price and the selection of hardware included, go for it.
