Had one of these years ago from a common hot-rod brand, this seems every bit as good. really impressed with the quality for the price.

For decades, I literally filed rings by hand. Now that I am a bit older, my hands don't like to grip the file like it used to. In fact, it doesn’t like to do it at all.This ring filer works pretty well, but I just have problems with my hands. You crank it like a jack in the box. My son finds it easy.I actually wanted a powered ring filer, but once I checked them out, my account said no.I salvaged a motor and foot pedal from a sewing machine. I removed the socket that the power and pedal plugged into. I ordered sprockets and a belt from Amazon. I’ve attached pictures of the mock up. It works! I will attach it to a plate that fits an old router table, but I wanted get a review out before it was too late.I think that this is a great ring filer and I believe just about anyone but this old man would be just fine with it.5 stars for an underpriced solution.

Used it for rebuilding a generator engine. Works great easy to use and good cutting action. Nice sturdy base. Good value

This made very quick work of grinding rings.The grinds were consistent and took very little time as opposed to hand filing.I did not use the mounting holes but instead just clamped it to my workbench.It took a little practice holding the ring both down and forward but once I got the hang of it I was off to the races!It arrived quickly is well made, has a fold away handle for storage and came with an extra grinding wheel.Gone are my days of hand filing rings.

The included 2 disks are not one size fits all. Included cutting discs are pretty thick at 3mm. This means (for small engines) if your ring free gap is small, you'll want to get a separate disk for these engines. My only reason for the 4 stars is that it would have been nice for the second disk to be thinner to allow this tool to cover more than large free gaps.Otherwise, this thing is great. It came preassembled and packaged very well. Pivot arm can be adjusted so you can get a full 360 degree rotation. Fairly small, comes with mounting holes (9mm diameter, 135mm apart.) Cutting disc is pretty thick at 3mm, wouldn't feel too bad about using this for something outside of piston rings occasionally (i.e. deburring something when I'm too lazy to plugin a dedicated tool.)

Decent ring file tool.Comparable to ones you get at the local store.Shipped to your door.does come with an extra different grit wheel as well.Overall does seem like a decent value

This is a review for the 66785 & 66786 Manual Piston Ring Filer Tool - Adjustable Grinder & Cutting Wheel for Ring Clearance Adjustment, Includes 120 Grit Carbide Grinding Wheels - Replaces PartsThis is a very well engineered tool. It makes adjusting piston ring gaps so much easier and you will get a nice square end every time. I have hand filed piston ring ends before but this tool does a far superior job. I am glad to see that the manufacturers have included a spare grinding disk, so this tool should now last me a lifetime.If you are rebuilding engines then this tool is a must have.
